Pakistan's Petroleum Sales Jump 23% in July 2026, Highest July Performance in Four Years

Pakistan recorded a significant increase in petroleum demand during July 2026, with total petroleum sales reaching 1.51 million tons, representing a 23% year-on-year increase and the strongest July performance in the past four years.

According to market analysis published by Arif Habib Limited, the latest figures indicate improving economic activity and strengthening fuel consumption across several sectors.

Strong Growth Across Fuel Categories

The increase in petroleum sales was supported by higher demand for multiple fuel products.

Petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) recorded notable growth during the month, reflecting increased transportation, commercial, and agricultural activity.

Meanwhile, furnace oil consumption also rose as power generation requirements increased.

Factors Driving the Increase

Several factors contributed to the improvement in fuel demand, including:

  • Lower domestic fuel prices
  • Improving economic conditions
  • Stronger agricultural activity
  • Higher demand from the automotive sector
  • Increased power generation needs

Together, these developments helped push petroleum sales to their highest July level in four years.

Pakistan State Oil Leads the Market

According to the report, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) emerged as the top-performing oil marketing company during July 2026.

The performance reflects continued activity across Pakistan's energy and fuel distribution sector amid improving market conditions.

Outlook

The latest petroleum sales figures suggest continued recovery in domestic fuel demand and broader economic activity. Industry observers will continue monitoring future trends in energy consumption, transportation, industrial output, and agricultural activity in the months ahead.
